Below are the current rankings within Aurae Howl.
High/Earned Ranks
Alpha Female (AHxAF)
The Alpha Female ranking is what you would expect; the alpha female is the leader of the pack. She has many abilities and is granted the highest respect. The alpha female will always eat first and will usually lead hunting/border patrols. The alpha female is an involved and powerful leader of the pack. She has the ability to exile wolves, to demote or promote them, and many more interesting abilities. Currently, Pippins is the alpha female, and the only alpha.
Alpha Male (AHxAM)
The Alpha Male has the same exact abilities as the Alpha Female, only they are a male. Please note that the Alpha Male and Alpha Female don't necessarily need to be a mated pair.
Betas (AHxB)
There are two betas in the pack. The betas can be of any gender (There can be two male betas, or two female betas), and they can have any relationship with each other. The betas assist the alphas in many tasks, and will also lead patrols and keep the pack in line. They receive great respect and only take orders from the alphas. The betas will also train the deltas. Betas are usually promoted if they prove themselves worthy from the subordinate ranking.
Deltas (AHxD)
There are two deltas within the pack, and they can be of any gender and any relationship. The deltas are right below the betas and take orders from both beta(s) and the alpha(s). Deltas are training in hopes to become the betas eventually and are highly respected wolves. Deltas are usually selected during their adolescent years, and will be trained by the betas. Deltas participate in patrols and stay involved with the pack as much as they can. Deltas are usually good advisors and peacemakers.
Sentinels (AHxSEN)
There is one pair of sentinels within the pack. Sentinels a mated pair of wolves who are ready to step in as the deltas, betas, or alphas at any given time. Sentinels usually will have lots of pups, train themselves along with the lower-ranked wolves, and help the high-ranked wolves when help is needed.
Knights (AHxK)
Knights are very strong and honorable wolves. Knights are paw-picked by the alphas (Knights usually are subordinates) to serve directly under them and keep peace within the pack. Knights are promoted and are either called 'sir' or 'lady' respectively, and they are there to protect and guard the alphas. Knights usually tend to be family or friends of the alpha. There can be as many knights as needed.
Lead Subordinates (AHxLES)
There are two lead subordinates- usually, one being a subordinate hunter, and one being a subordinate guardian, though not always. These wolves aren't really a part of the high-ranked wolves and have less of a say, however, they are very important. They will keep the subordinates in line, train adolescents, and organize patrols for their respected class of subordinates. They are higher than the gamma and eat prior to the subordinates and elders.
Gamma (AHxG)
The gamma is usually a bully of the pack. Only one wolf can have the gamma rank, and they are essentially a "superior subordinate". In order to obtain the gamma ranking, a wolf must first be a subordinate. If the wolf proves themself stronger than the other subordinates (By hunting, fighting, etc.) they may be named gamma by the alpha(s). Gamma is considered a high ranking and is respected, however, the gamma still has the same duties as a subordinate and will eat with the subordinates. The gamma may eventually become a delta or a beta if needed.
Low Rankings
Elder (AHxE)
Elders are the wisest wolves in the pack and aren't necessarily old nor retired though they tend to be. Elders are cared for by their packmates and are given high respect and are not expected to work. The elders will give the pack advice and will usually advise the alpha(s). A wolf can be granted the elder position by the alpha due to their intelligence at any time, or if they are permanently injured or retired. Elders eat first after the high-ranked wolves.
Subordinate Hunter (AHxSH)
The subordinate ranking is simple- it's where wolves who aren't pups or adolescents, or high-ranked are. There are two classes of subordinate ranks- both being equal and eating at the same time. The subordinate hunters are the hunters of the pack. They go on patrols and will get food for the pack. Hunters are important and are essential in the pack. Hunters take orders from all high ranking wolves. Subordinates are encouraged to test each others' skills and train together in hopes to obtain a higher position.
Subordinate Guardian (AHxSG)
Subordinate guardians are the fighters and protectors of the pack. Usually these wolves go on border patrols or will accompany subordinate hunters on hunting trips to protect them. Otherwise, subordinate guardians will take guarding posts around camp and help mark borders. Subordinate guardians double as assassins if need be. Subordinate guardians are equal to the subordinate hunters and eat at the same time as them.
Scout (AHxSCO)
Scouts are very important members of the pack. They are essentially like subordinates, however, they have some more duties and aren't really associated with hunting or fighting/guarding. Scouts are usually small, fast, and intelligent wolves without brawn. Scouts need to be very clever and use their heads- because scouts are responsible for inspecting every inch of the territory and chasing out trespassers. Scouts also may become spies in other packs if needed. Scouts must report to the alpha(s) about their daily territory patrols. Scouts eat with the subordinates and get the same respect as them.
Adolescent (AHxAD)
Adolescents are the teenage wolves of the pack. These wolves are currently being trained by subordinates (Or higher-ranked wolves) and are growing into adulthood. Adolescents have a low rank and get usual respect, but they have many chores and they are expected to care for the elders in their spare time. Most adolescents will graduate after a year of training and will become subordinates. Adolescents have certain rules and must follow these.
Pup (AHxP)
Pups are the kiddos of the pack. They are the offspring of mated wolf pairs and are there to have fun. Pups will run around the den/camp area and grow into their own. Pups are cared for by their parents and their pack and are given lots of love. Pups are usually fed with their parents, whenever their parents eat. Pups are only expected to not break the rules and grow into strong adolescents.
Omegas (AHxO)
Omega is the lowest rank in the wolf pack. The omega is fed very last and is usually the pack's punching bag. They serve little purpose and they can try to prove themselves in order to obtain a better rank. The alpha may demote a wolf to this rank if they see it necessary.
